I talked about creating this video series with many, many business owners. I suffered rejection until the real story behind the Big Orange Guy Telling the Stories of Entrepreneurs and Heroes' of Lawrenceville, the story of someone believing in me, happened! In two years of talking and presenting the opportunity one man, Don Walters of the Ephraim Group, believed in me. He believed in my vision for a sustainability approach in his business and mine and what it could mean to Lawrenceville and to you - my reader. That is how we got here today.
If you can, image what it took for Don to keep believing and taking action with me when I said, "I want to put a porch swing about 50 feet in the air on that big beautiful tree in front yard of your business." Sure enough, he did not blink and now on the corner of McKendree Church Road and Lawrenceville Suwannee Road, there is a porch swing hanging 50 feet in the air. There sits Don and the Big Orange Guy having a conversation - directing passersby to the real conversation on You Tube. Consider for a moment what it would have taken for you to stay in that original "porch swing" concept conversation with me.
Don and I try to keep moving our web of life - systems thinking plan forward.....though I think Don is stuck in the "swing development" phase. You see, he was invited to my garage where he spent the afternoon being wrapped in plastic. Then plaster was applied to his body to create the Don Walters double appearing up in the tree. Yep! under that handsome suit is on the real Don Walters!
We have yet to recognize our reservoir of courage to live bigger and feel the sense of well being that already exists in our community. The Big Orange Guy's visit to the Ephraim Group is just the beginning of telling the story of the Entrepreneurs and Heroes' of Lawrenceville. Like CitruSolution, their values align to making our town a Great Place to Live, Work and Play! The Big Orange Guy will be telling many stories, enabling us all to connect. The Big Orange Guy visits will give our residents the where-with-all to act more intelligently and to recognize the dignity and worth in our community.
The second PURPOSE in The Big Orange Guy telling the stories of Lawrenceville Entrepreneurs and Heroes' is to experiment so that we can all learn more about sustainability We have come to a crossroad in our community and in the economics of our times. It is the perfect storm to find our strengths. It is a time to SUSTAIN.
The video is just the first chapter in the story of The Ephraim Group.....keep watching. Keep learning about sustainability by keeping in touch with our movements! Stick with us and life will become more worth living - Sustainable!
